5 Ways to Relieve Migraines Without Using Drugs

The pain that arises from migraines and dizziness can sometimes be very disturbing and hinder everyday life. Even in some cases, a person can feel nauseous, vomit, and become more sensitive to light.

The most common way to relieve dizziness and migraines is to use drugs. Unfortunately, taking this medication can cause a number of side effects such as sleepiness, fatigue, irregular heartbeat, nausea, and difficulty focusing.

But there are also other ways you can get rid of this pain without having to take medication. Reporting from the Medical Daily, here are a number of ways to relieve migraines without using drugs.

1. Drink Coffee
Drinking coffee or products with other caffeine content such as tea can be a way to get rid of migraines. Take as early as possible when you just feel dizzy to get rid of the pain.
But also pay attention to when you consume this drink. Try not to drink it after midday because it can cause sleeplessness which can trigger back dizziness.

2. Use Cold or Hot Compress
Using cold compresses on the forehead or warm compresses on the neck and back of the head can reduce the pain of migraines. Do this compress for 15 minutes and rest for 15 minutes before doing it again.

3. Don't Tie Your Hair and Wear a Hat
External pressure on the scalp such as too tight pigtails and the use of hats and headbands can be the cause of headaches. A study shows that women who loosen their hair tend to find that their headaches disappear.

4. Don't Chew
Chewing is one of the causes of headaches. Chewing candy or crispy food and nail-biting, lip and other objects can trigger headaches.

5. Avoid Bright Light
The bright light that shines can cause migraines. Cover the window with dark curtains and use sunglasses when outdoors to reduce pain.
